Power of public commitment

Currently I am reading great book 'The Psychology of Persuasion' by Robber B. Cialdini and I found very interesting story. A person was trying to quit smoking and kept relapsing but then he decided to make one change - her wrote on the back on his business card 'I promise you that I will never smoke another cigarette' and gave a copy of his card to his friends and colleagues. As he says quiting smoking 'cold turkey' was hardest thing he's ever done and he was tempted to smoke many times, however public commitment always stopped him from doing it and he's never had a fag again.

So if you have been trying stop doing or start doing and but unsuccessfully try this method it's really powerful. Let me know if it worked for you.

How to get started

Many people plan to start doing something but they never start. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Here is the thing - a lot of people doesn't start doing because they sets very high standards to themselves which are very unlikely to be achieved immediately, i.e doesn't do any exercise and want to start exercising 5 times a week for one hour or want to make a million dollar from his own business but he even hasn't got his own business and never had. Do you think those people are likely to succeed. The answer is no with very few exceptions.

So how to get started. The answer is very simple - lower your standards and start from very small. For instance, if you don't exercise, start from 10 minutes twice a week. If you want to start meditating, start from 5 minutes 3 times a week.

And guess what, when you start exercising, meditating or whatever you going to do, you probably will do more, because time goes fast, especially when you enjoy the process.

When you feel comfortable with your task, start gradually increasing time, intensity.......

So start from small and take action right now.

I hope it will help and I would be glad to hear your success stories.

There is no failure - only feedback

Today I'd to talk about failure and to your surprise, I can say that there is no failure and only feedback or learning experience. Let me explain what I mean. Here is the thing, when you do anything you either get what you want or sometimes the result is not exactly what you expected. Nevertheless, you still can learn something from it and do better next time. In order to do better you need to change you approach, strategy, attitude etc., because it's insane to do same things over and over again and expect different result.

The only failure in life is failure to participate or in other words do nothing. So role you sleeves and take action right now - go to the gym, start eating healthy, think positively.... To find out more about how to start taking action go to http://www.lifecoachandy.co.uk and you can get free consultation.

Finally as one of greatest coach in the world Tony Robbins says that all success is based on fundamentals of failure.
